Robert S. Allen is a three-time CISO and most recently, the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for Brighthouse Financial, one of the largest providers of life insurance and annuity products in the United States. Robert joined Brighthouse Financial in 2017, prior to the company’s spin-off and separation from MetLife, and was tasked with developing the cyber program from greenfield, including security policy, data protection, a dedicated security operations center, IT risk, resiliency and regulatory compliance. Prior to his role at Brighthouse Financial, Robert served as Vice President and CISO for GE Healthcare (GEHC), a $20 billion business unit of General Electric and a leading provider of transformational imaging and medical devices with 60,000 employees and contractors. As CISO for GEHC, Robert was accountable for global security, risk, compliance, controllership as well as IoT security product and digital-related mandates. Robert was also of voting member of GE’s operational risk committee. Prior to GE, Robert held the role of Chief Security Officer (CSO) at CNA Financial with global responsibility for both information security and physical security. In that role, Robert helped define a more holistic view of operational risks and security strategies for CNA and the Loews family of companies, subsequently adding IT infrastructure, service management and execution of CNA’s technical portfolio to his accountability. Robert earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a graduate of the Kellogg Executive Leadership Program at Northwestern University. He holds multiple certifications in the security, privacy technology and risk domains, including CIA, CISA, CISM and CISSP.
